Pointers

What is inherently present?

****

Can a wave remain a wave?  It cannot. At some point, it becomes indistinguishable from the ocean from which it arises.

****

Simply put, there is no you to "access" to presence. Neither is there any one who is needed to dive deeply into some conceptual "inner body." Presence is bottomless, and it has neither a body nor a beginning. And It is all there is.

****

The mind is nothing but its contents. You are the cognitizing spaciousness that knows that the contents are appearing.

****

See for yourself what is unequivocally present. This isn't something that you have to hope to recognize at some later date. And just "who" would be hoping to do this? The "who" would only be a thought or concept. Can a thought know or comprehend awareness? It can't even begin to do that!

****

You are awareness. That is your actual identity. It is merely a matter of clueing in on the reality of that fact.

****

Nonduality is about understanding what you are, and not about what practices or methods you should use to reach that understanding. And besides, you can't reach what you already are. Remain with the "whatness," and you'll recognized what has always been in perfect, unchanging abundance.

****

Right at this moment, what is it that will never be touched by anything that you may experience during the day or evening?

****

Seekers want to have a "spiritual practice" because it makes them feel special and mystical. But they are in no way touching their true sacredness when they engage in such practices, because actions are all on the level of the mind and doing. And awareness can't be journeyed-to. It can only be recognized and understood.

****

When a wave
returns to the sea,
where is the "me"?

****

The recognition of the presence of awareness not only clarifies any questions or reservations that you may harbor about it, it transcends them. For even before you can frame your question, awareness is fully present. Further, you are that awareness. You never move from being  precisely That--a peace, a hushness, and an evenness that is always immediately before and within you. Truly, there is never a time when it is missing.

~~~~~
"I like your approach in A Vastness All Around. The stories, thoughts and vignettes of your life seem wonderful ways to make people stop and pay attention to where they actually are right now, rather than in some imagined past or future. They show that you don't have to be some specially qualified person, preferably with a title and a name in Sanskrit, to pursue the spiritual quest. Your message comes across particularly well in such pieces as 'Sheerness of Being.'"
--Valerie J. Roebuck, Ph.D., Honorary Research Fellow, University of Manchester (England)
