Pointers

Right at this moment, what is the presence that your mind and thoughts aren't creating? What is the presence that is already there?

****

You are what you are: Unequivocal awareness! And your inherent nature Does Not Change. Thus, there is no where to go and nothing to get.

****

Your own direct experience of what you are is what frees you from the notion that something needs to be done to grasp or garner liberation. Your very nature is 100% liberated! Even individualistic thoughts about yourself can't suppress Self in any form, shape, or manner.

****

Any action towards awareness is just idiotic.

****

The only thing that you can truly say about yourself at this moment is, "I am." It stops right there. And even that's an overstatement because all there is is "Amness." But that term might be too theoretical to seekers, too far-flung. So go back to the original pointer, if you resonate with that. Discover the undeniable fact of this "I am."

****

So long as you feel that you have to "get enlightened," you are anticipating--you are mentally projecting what has already taken place. You are pure awareness at this very second. So what is there to be done? And who wants to do what? And why? You are operating solely on procedural and conceptual levels when there is a "who" that wants to do and this.

****

Nonduality points you to timeless, life-changing insights.

****

The thought "I am bounded" is silly; and the thought, "I am Freedom" is redundant, even though it is pointing to the truth. The thing to see here is that you are not your thoughts at all

****

This understanding isn't some higher-level of consciousness or anything like that. Consciousness remains pretty much the same, and awareness is totally beyond it, as I've said any number of times here. So any activity or practice that promises "advanced" levels of alertness and knowingness are still on the level of the mind, not matter how many psychic or expansive experiences you may have.

"I like your approach in A Vastness All Around. The stories, thoughts and vignettes of your life seem wonderful ways to make people stop and pay attention to where they actually are right now, rather than in some imagined past or future. They show that you don't have to be some specially qualified person, preferably with a title and a name in Sanskrit, to pursue the spiritual quest. Your message comes across particularly well in such pieces as 'Sheerness of Being.'"
