Looking Homeward

There is not a single thing dividing you from you true nature, which is awareness.

You are not a person, a man, a woman, a northerner, an ethnicity, or political faction. You are that which is temporarily arising in any of the aforementioned. (And even then, you/it/them are not concretely there.

Since you ARE awareness, there can be no roads or journeys or techniques to it. But that is precisely what 99.99% of the gurus, meditation mega-stars, and spiritual teachers want to do: Give you a mantra, a technique, or a process to reach some form of "enlightenment."

Sorry, it is not going to happen. Has it happened for them? Absolutely not! Talk with someone who has a living understanding that he or she is awareness itself. Only can that person be your guide, your pointer to the eternal.

There will be something in the person's voice, manner, and silences that will pause you. Let the pauses be your guide to your natural state. It is a kind of looking homeward, really. I wish I would describe it, but I can't.

You must experience for yourself; and nothing, my friend, could be easier.

After a life time of teaching people to drive. I saw how I was instructing my learners in the fundamentals until, the body could drive the vehicle and could learn the Highway Code. Then ensure enough real time experience to be considered competent to understand how to answer the Highway Code questions and to teaching himself to be the driver and pass the Test, first time. Or practising, by taking enough tests to pass.

After due consideration and sixty years of serious Zen meditation as I approach my 82nd birthday. I find after satisfactorily completing my studies of a Harvard course. I have to publish my (first) dissertation. Which is titled 'Meditation Mended My Mind'. My first 15 minutes sitting still and watching. Unknown to my undiscovered self or yet to be discovered by my arrogant and aggressive self, was the first step to healing my mind.

My continuing search next steps, took me through the Chinese Gateless Gate and out to Japans flowering of Zen. On and into the pathless land of Khrishnamurti.

Until I awoke to the dream and saw with my mind. That 'I', had created my world from the words and videos of my memory from labels and description's. That I had collected from others. Was that a last step in my quest? I wondered! No, I'm not dead yet and the journey continues A new teacher is creating a new future with The Science of Yoga I started a new direction from an earlier Harvard research into Wellness. This was made into the Science of Wellbeing and available as a free course with Cousera.

I write to you as the first operating link on ATTD and hope you can subscribe me to your blog and advise me if the site is still functional Cheers Terri

Listening to the podcast you did with Urban Guru Cafe in 2009. I could listen to your accent all day. Beautiful.

Thank you so much! I don't hear anything, of course—just garrulous Rodney, as least when it comes to speaking about Presence.
